The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
